Therapeutic Yoga
with Lisa Claire
I am fascinated by the body-mind connection and passionate about integrating mindful movement practices into our often frenetic and desk-bound lives. I view yoga as a technique to tune-in to the body, heal what ails, create a new habit, and find our own ground.
My teaching style interweaves therapeutic hatha yoga sequences with functional movement exercises and techniques inspired by Katonah Yoga. Classes are designed to promote greater mobility, strength, and joint stability, while allowing enough time in each pose to attune to the breath and align the body. Expect dynamic classes that are adaptable for all levels. Each session blends challenge and support, inviting you to explore your potential within a flexible framework.
Hatha yoga can be an incredible tool to study ourselves, get to know ourselves, and learn how best to inhabit the unique structure of our own physical body.
I am grateful to all the teachers I have had the privilege of studying with, especially my mentor of 10+ years, yoga therapist, Michelle Rubin, whose influence profoundly shaped my teaching style and personal practice; my early-years yoga guide, Kevin Elander; and Yogacharya Venkatesha and Acharye Hema, the founders of Atmavikasa Center of Yogic Sciences in Mysore, whose authentic and disciplined teachings deeply enriched my understanding and experience of yoga. I aim to offer what my teachers have given me and invite everyone to experience an elevated level of ease and empowerment within their own skin.
As a small yoga business, I make a modest monthly donation to two charities: Our Place Society and Seva Canada.
